31 degrees and getting hotter: that was Bank Innovation Day 2024

When more than 100 future makers come to a (factory) bank ...

... and talk about innovation, digitalization, AI and the future of banking.

That was our Bank Innovative Day 2024

On July 10 and 11, 2024, the Bank Innovativ Tag 2024 took place at our Werkbank32 in Mittweida.

The dominant topics: New Banking, Near Banking and Beyond Banking - customer focus and loyalty through innovative and data-driven offers and services - and the midsummer weather, which heated up the guests just as much as the hot discussions.

"Anyone who loves the future and likes change is currently having a wonderful time"

Leonhardt Zintl opened his keynote speech with this quote and made it clear that only imaginative and forward-looking managers and politicians can shape the future - a powerful call for innovation and change.

53 % of German companies have difficulties developing innovative digital business models because they do not recognize their advantages. As a result, they remain stuck in traditional structures, show little flexibility and are poorly prepared for the future. Björn Schmuck followed up on this fact with his keynote speech. This set the tone for two intensive days.

The thing called "AI"

Even before that, our avatar "Eva" and the Telescope Managing Directors Benjamin Zeitler, Dominik Baumann and Alexander Knauer warmly welcomed the guests and officially launched Bank Innovation Day 2024.

From this moment on, one maxim dominated above all: all the challenges that banks will face in the future - from a lack of sales power due to a shortage of specialists to the acquisition and retention of customers - must be met by breaking down thought patterns and creating innovative environments and customer-centric offerings.

Especially the topics AIthe creation digital contact points and innovative User experience models and Embedded Financeautomation of processes and the use of future technologies such as Avatars were a common thread running through both days.

The human weakness and what banks can actually learn from Estonia

The second day started with Laura Pistorius from Fraunhofer FKIE and the topic of cybercrime. She raised awareness - despite the drive for innovation and digitalization - that the topic of security and the significant threat it poses should not be underestimated. The focus here must be on people in particular as a weak point, as human error for 90 % of all security incidents is responsible.

The second day also focused on various aspects of digital innovation in the financial and sales sector. Topics included the Use of artificial intelligence for mortgage advice including interface to the CRM system and Automated lead generationthe future of banking with third-party providers and a comparison of the level of digitalization between Germany and Estonia.

The latter topic in particular focused on the number 24 and the cost-income ratio. This is because the ratio in Estonia is 24 %, which is far below the average in Germany. Basic research into the reasons for this was not only carried out in Benjamin Höfle's presentation, but also practically in our Estonian showroom.

Speaking of which!

Of course, it wasn't all theoretical. Practical insights into the projects of TeleskopEffekt GmbH also livened up the atmosphere. Including the aforementioned Estonian Showroomwhere the participants not only learned more about the history of the EU's most digitized country. The Economic Attaché of the Republic of Estonia- Roomet Sõrmus did not miss the opportunity to address a short video message to the BIT guests.

There were further insights into the Telewerk, which is being built on the Werkbank32 campus as a real laboratory on the topic of New Work, and our Escape Room, where participants were also able to put their puzzle-solving skills to the test.

The EVA principle at BIT 2024

The virtual avatar "Eva" accompanied us throughout the two days of the event. She kept visitors up to date at all times on further planning. In direct relation to this, David Mika then brought the two successful and intensive days to a close with his flashlight on avatars in banking.

Conclusion: heat, heated discussions, hot topics

Bank Innovativ Day 2024 was a complete success. The event provided a platform for in-depth discussions, practical insights and valuable networking opportunities. Participants were not only able to take away many new ideas for actively shaping the future of banking, but also enjoy delicious ice cream and (iced) coffee from Kaffeeflitzer.
