We have maintained a close partnership with Estonia for many years. We have our own office in Tallinn and regularly undertake learning journeys to the digitization world champion.
It was therefore a special honor and pleasure to meet with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas at a business reception hosted by the Estonian Embassy in Berlin. I was able to show her our innovation ecosystem around the workbench32, Telescope effect and Volksbank Mittweida eG closer to her. She was very grateful that we are acting as bridge builders here.
In her keynote speech, she showed that Estonia has made its way to the top: Whether PISA, innovation index, freedom index, business friendliness, digitalization and much more. - In many world rankings, Estonia is in the top ten to 20 places.
And all this despite the war in Ukraine? She has a clear answer to this: if we in Germany are not afraid of war, then neither are they. "Russia is afraid of going to war with NATO" and therefore it is also clear to her that "security doesn't start or end with one country".
So here, too, a clear statement in favor of strengthening German-Estonian cooperation, especially under these conditions.
Other speakers such as Sven Ursinus from Bolt, Makar Navitski from Estateguru.co or also Mats Kuuskemaa from e-Residency have shown us what is possible and we will continue to strengthen our network here. Thanks in particular to Roomet Sõrmus for the wonderful organization of the evening.
