Innovation becomes visible in Mittweida (Central Saxony): Werkbank 32, the new supra-regional innovation center for start-ups and SMEs, opens in autumn. Volksbank Mittweida eG and its subsidiary Mittweida innovativ have launched this project and set an exclamation mark for the future. Werkbank 32 gives users an insight into the latest digitalization topics such as blockchain, process automation, practical artificial intelligence and creative prototyping.

Everyone can benefit from high-tech ideas, motivated founders and a network of experienced mentors. The E-Estonia showroom also offers exclusive access to the Baltic digital pioneers. Bridges are being built in Mittweida - from the analog to the digital age, from the region to the world. SMEs in particular will find Werkbank 32 a strong partner for expanding their own innovation expertise and supporting their digital transformation.

The choice of location shows that in times of digitalization, it is not the geographical location, but above all the local expertise that is decisive.

The workbench 32 as Space for Digital transformation

The digital learning lab offers seminars, workshops and flexible formats to discover technical progress in an applied and independent way. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular receive support in the area of digitalization with a focus on cross-industry activities. In addition, there are also collaborations with internationally recognized companies such as IBM and Samsung Germany, which provide significant support in the digital transformation.

With its own office in Tallinn and a Nordic showroom in Werkbank 32, there is a close connection to the European role model Estonia in terms of digitalization. Based on the e-Estonia Briefing Center, Nordic solutions for companies and the public sector will be presented live.

About the workbench 32

Agile and highly functional premises in an innovative and pleasant working environment are rented out in the villa. The Blockchain Competence Center at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences and Mittweida innovativ Gesellschaft für Wissenstransfer mbH also use the building.

The villa also offers a showroom that can be used for various interesting events. For example, the virtual briefing center of Enterprise Estonia can be visited here. The showroom also offers various formats on the topic of "What does the future of SMEs look like?".

The laundry is the heart of Werkbank 32, housing the coworking area, rooms for ambitious start-ups and plenty of event space. The digital learning lab is also located here, offering a wide range of practical courses in programming, coding, robotics, AI, blockchain and other future-oriented topics.

The workshop will live up to its name and actually serve as a place to work, try things out, prototype and get your hands dirty. While the construction and design of the first two buildings will be completed by the end of 2020, work on the workshop will begin in 2021.
