Back to the (banking) future: with this wink, we catapulted ourselves into the future at the Bank Innovative Day 2025 into the future of banking

Under the motto "Next Level Banking: Deciphering innovations, utilizing potential“ we kicked off two days of keynotes, interactive formats and deep-dive sessions at 2pm to show how banks can keep pace with fresh ideas and technologies.

 

Day 1: Impulses, insights, interaction

Our virtual avatar EVA opened the event before Benjamin Zeitler and Dominik Baumann welcomed all guests and speakers. This was followed by a historic highlight at Bank Innovativ Day: for the first time Her Excellency Marika Linntam, Ambassador of Estonia to Berlin, the opening keynote speech. Directly afterwards, Leonhard Zintl (Volksbank Mittweida eG) continued the successful start to the day with his presentation.

In the first thematic block under the heading „Banking in transition: trends, technologies, perspectives“ Manuel Zoricic (Microsoft) showed how AI-supported chatbots and automated analyses Customer inquiries in real time and provide personalized answers, making the service noticeably more efficient and individual. Gabriel Placentra (Union Investment) then presented Data-driven targeting strategies which can be used to identify potential new customers more precisely and build long-term relationships. Christina Ebenal (Genoverband) supplemented this with practical suggestions for a Authentic employer branding and effective social media campaigns, that measurably strengthen recruiting. Opportunities and stumbling blocks were discussed in the subsequent panel discussion, before a group photo and a short break heralded the transition to the practical workshops.

Practical workshops

  • Process intelligence instead of mountains of paper with Matthias Böhm and Jannis Kambach (AWS) and Marion Mattern (TeleskopEffekt)
    - The workshop taught methods for automating manual workflows and explained how AI-supported analyses can identify bottlenecks at an early stage.
  • Customer centricity as a success factor with Rene Linek (WG-Data) and Tanja Speck (TeleskopEffekt)
    - Using specific use cases, the participants learned how to systematically evaluate customer feedback and translate it into productive product and service optimizations.
  • Employer branding in practice with Marco Sticka, Magdalena Madry (VR NetWorld GmbH) and Moritz Balzer (TeleskopEffekt)
    - Best practices for internal and external communication strategies were presented in order to sustainably increase employer attractiveness.

The day ended with a cozy networking dinner - the perfect way to deepen new contacts and reflect on the first day.

 

Day 2: Next Level Finance & Digital excursion to Estonia

On the second morning, Dominik Baumann and Benjamin Zeitler started the time machine again and opened the second part. Afterwards, Dr. Friedrich Zuther (BVR), Tuhina Tomar (IBM) and Tim-Christopher Whiteford Harris (Comparus) dived into the time machine. „Next Level Finance“ in Quantum computing applications and AI use cases for banks.

After the short break, Stefan Markau (VR Bank Holstein eG) brought the participants back to the real Europe: he presented Estonia as a pioneer of digitalization and described how the event organized by TeleskopEffekt VR Bank Holstein eG study trip: concrete impulses and learnings delivered. Thanks to careful planning and support, internal processes have already been optimized and tangible added value created - a real balancing act between space and time.

Afterwards, Dieter Angst (Genopace), Christina Kohlmann (Adobe) and Henryk Albers (Salesforce) gave insights into Automation, data-driven marketing and smart workplaces. Each session ended with a panel discussion, which summarized the impulses once again and provided space for questions from the curious guests.

With a final outlook from Benjamin Zeitler and a personal message to his own self in four weeks' time, Bank Innovativ Day 25 was already back in the history books.

A special highlight on both days was the graphic recorder (https://www.annalenaschiller.com/visualisierung) Anna-Lena Schiller ensured that the mood and key messages of our panels and workshops were captured on canvas in real time. Each of the resulting artworks impressively captures the lively spirit and innovative power of BiT 2025.
