Next year, Mittweida will host the Summer of Pioneers as part of the MittMachSommer. Pioneers can "test live" in Mittweida and discover the region as a place to work and live.
In the "MittMachSommer Knowledge workers and skilled workers from urban areas are given the opportunity to Region around Mittweida as a place to live to get to know them. The core idea is to counteract individual and regional challenges with concrete project ideas. The guiding principle here is Revitalization of the city axis from the train station to the market square in Mittweida. Creative and digital workers from all over Germany are given the opportunity to try out living and coworking in the countryside and to actively participate in social projects. The pioneers contribute their knowledge and networks to our region and help tackle issues of digital transformation, sustainable living and social innovation together. Accompanied by a study, parallel research will be conducted, how liveable the region is.
Our colleague Julia had the opportunity to visit the Summer of Pioneers region of 2019 Wittenberge. She learned from Diana and Tina about various projects (safari store, Elblandwerker, Jungelbüro ... ) and their sustainable impact.
