Germany and Estonia intend to further strengthen their cooperation on key digital issues of the future. In June 2026, the two countries agreed to a joint innovation partnership. Key areas of focus include artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, the European digital identity, cybersecurity, and the modernization of government structures.
\nFor us, this news is more than just a current political signal. After all, we at TeleskopEffekt have been following Estonia for years. We regularly travel to Tallinn with decision-makers, bring Estonian innovations to our D(e)-Estonia showroom in Mittweida, and maintain a well-established network with Estonian partners.
\nWhy? Because Estonia demonstrates what is possible when digitalization is approached systematically and meets a culture that actively shapes change.<\/p>\n

A digital infrastructure that sets the standard<\/h3>\n

Anyone who takes a closer look at Estonia will quickly be impressed: a thoroughly digitized country, the e-ID, X-Road as the foundation for secure data exchange, and digital elections. Estonia has thus established a digital infrastructure<\/strong> created, which international standards<\/strong> sets the standard and demonstrates what is possible when digitalization is approached consistently and with a long-term perspective.
\nAnd this is exactly where things get particularly exciting for us as an innovation agency: What mindset and understanding of innovation underlie these solutions?<\/strong>
\nIn Estonia, digital infrastructure is not an isolated IT issue, but rather the foundation for how public services are organized, data is exchanged, and new digital offerings are developed. Different systems can communicate with one another, rather than constantly creating new siloed solutions.
\nThis consistent perspective is particularly intriguing for German organizations. After all, banks and companies are also grappling with the question of how individual digital transformation projects can be turned into a cohesive system and foster genuine innovation.<\/p>\n

But digital infrastructure alone does not explain why Estonia implements new solutions so consistently. At least as fascinating is the culture of innovation behind it. After gaining independence, Estonia made a conscious decision to rethink many of its structures. Based on this idea, our D(e)-Estonia showroom was created at Werkbank32. It brings Estonia\u2019s digital world to Germany and makes innovative solutions readily accessible.
\nIn an interactive tour, visitors discover how Estonia is implementing digital solutions in areas such as e-government, digital infrastructure, e-health, and cybersecurity. But it doesn\u2019t stop at presentations: Live demonstrations and VR experiences<\/strong> allow participants to try out Estonian technologies for themselves and experience their user-friendliness firsthand. Expert-led insights and group discussions provide a space to understand the underlying principles and apply them to their own organizations.
\nThe showroom thus not only brings technology to life but also opens up new perspectives on one\u2019s own digital transformation. When people can try out digital innovation for themselves, they ask different questions: What makes Estonia different? Why does it work there? And what aspects of that could we apply to our own organization?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Understanding on the ground how digital transformation succeeds<\/h3>\n
